The Ukrainian community in Norway held a demonstration in Oslo to commemorate the Day of Remembrance for the Defenders of Ukraine, members of volunteer formations
and civilians who were executed, tortured, or died in captivity.
Participants observed a moment of silence in memory of the fallen and recalled one of the most horrific crimes committed by Russia – the terrorist attack in Olenivka. On the night of July 29, 2022, more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war, defenders of Azovstal, were killed, and approximately 150 others were injured.
During his speech, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Norway Oleksiy Gavrysh emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the fallen and remembering the thousands of Ukrainian prisoners. He highlighted the systematic violations of their rights and called for international pressure to stop these crimes and hold those responsible accountable.
"Norway's support remains critically important for Ukraine at this time," - he stressed.
The Ambassador also spoke about his recent visit to Ukraine to participate in a meeting of ambassadors, during which the key priorities of Ukrainian diplomacy were identified to strengthen international efforts in combating Russian aggression.
