The Ukrainian community in Norway held an event in Oslo to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Holodomor of 1932–1933.

During his speech, Minister Counsellor Ihor Holovchenko drew historical parallels between the crime of genocide committed against the Ukrainian people by the communist totalitarian regime almost a century ago and Russian aggression in the 21st century.

He also thanked Norway for its ongoing efforts to support Ukraine: “We appreciate Norway’s comprehensive assistance, particularly its humanitarian support for the population and its contributions to Ukraine’s food security amid Russia’s full-scale invasion.”

Those present lit candles of remembrance and observed a minute of silence to honour the millions of Ukrainians who were starved under Stalin’s regime.
