In Oslo, a demonstration was held in front of the Parliament to commemorate the 1,000th day since the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.
In his speech, Ihor Holovchenko, the Charge d'Affaires a.i. of Ukraine to Norway, expressed gratitude to the government, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the Norwegian people for their ongoing support of Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian aggressor.
«Norway was one of the first countries to support the Victory Plan of the President of Ukraine», - he emphasized.
The Chargé d'Affaires noted that since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Norway has provided over $5 billion in military and civilian aid. He urged political parties to support an increase in aid for 2025 and to allocate the funds towards weapons production in Ukraine.
«Norwegian money can bring real results on the battlefield. It can help reduce civilian casualties and protect Ukrainian kindergartens, schools, and hospitals from Russian missiles. The time to act is now. I urge the parties in Norway to demonstrate political will and make the necessary decisions», - he emphasized.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide assured that Norway will stand with Ukraine in opposing Russian armed aggression in its fight for freedom, statehood, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
During the demonstration, the leaders of the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party, the Green Party, and representatives from Ukrainian and Norwegian organizations expressed their support.
The speakers emphasized that this war must conclude with Ukraine's victory, and Norway will support Ukraine for as long as necessary.
The event was organized by the Norwegian-Ukrainian Friendship Association and the Ukrainian Community in Norway.
