The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Norway Oleksiy Gavrysh held a meeting with the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Kingdom of Norway Cecilie Myrseth.
The parties discussed prospects for enhancing Ukrainian-Norwegian trade and economic cooperation. Special attention was given to the involvement of Norwegian institutions, particularly Eksfin and Innovation Norway, in supporting the development of entrepreneurship in Ukraine.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of increasing the presence of Norwegian business in Ukraine, which in turn would contribute to the creation of new jobs and the return of qualified Ukrainian specialists from abroad. In this context, Oleksiy Havrysh also proposed to exchange experience and develop further cooperation.
The issue of Ukraine’s energy security was also raised, with particular focus on the country's natural gas needs. The Ambassador stressed that Norway’s support in this area would contribute not only to energy resilience but also positively affect the investment climate and entrepreneurial activity in Ukraine.
The parties also acknowledged the significance of the updated Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and the EFTA states, signed on 8 April 2025, which, upon ratification, will open new opportunities for bilateral trade and economic growth.
In turn, Cecilie Myrseth noted that the constructive dialogue actively ongoing within the framework of the Ukrainian-Norwegian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Entrepreneurship and Economic Cooperation reflects the commitment of both countries to deepening bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
