Ambassador Oleksiy Gavrysh took part in the conference of Norway’s state-owned transmission system operator Statnett, “The Power System as Part of Total Defence,” where he presented Ukraine’s experience in ensuring energy resilience under conditions of full-scale war.
In his remarks, the Ambassador emphasized that the energy sector has become a second front, facing systematic attacks, particularly on electricity and gas infrastructure. At the same time, Ukraine’s system demonstrates the ability to recover quickly and adapt.
Special attention was given to the role of the gas sector, the development of domestic production, and the use of underground gas storage facilities to strengthen Europe’s energy security. The integration of Ukraine’s energy system into ENTSO-E was also highlighted as an important element of resilience.
The Ambassador underlined the importance of energy decentralization, investment in development, and strengthening partnerships with European countries, in particular Norway. He also expressed gratitude to the Norwegian side for its consistent support of Ukraine and its significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine’s energy sector.
