On April 30, the Municipality of Bergen hosted an event in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
The diplomat of the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway Nataliya Marikutsa, delivered a welcoming speech to the audience. She expressed gratitude to the Bergen municipality for its political support of Ukraine, as well as to the NGOs for their humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting Ukraine in its struggle against the Russian aggressor.
In her speech the Mayor of Bergen Marit Warncke emphasized that Ukraine's fight for freedom and democracy is also a fight for a free and secure Europe. She read a statement of support for Ukraine from the stage, which had been adopted by the Bergen City Council on the eve of the event.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants welcomed a convoy of 15 vehicles with medical equipment that was sent to Ukraine by HMM Helsehjelp.
During a meeting, Natalia Marikutsa and Marit Warncke discussed topics of mutual interest, including the establishment of ties between Bergen and Ukrainian cities.
As part of her visit to Bergen, Nataliya Marikutsa met with representatives of Den Ukrainske Forening i Bergen og Hordaland. She also presented Ukrainian educational literature to the Ukrainian Integration School in Bergen.
