This year for the very first time public organization ‘Ukrainian-Scandinavian Center' together with Chernivtsi National University (CNU) are launching a joint summer school for Norwegians and Ukrainians. The course will take place 3-23 of July in Chernivtsi, west Ukraine, in the premises of one of the leading Ukrainian higher educational establishments - Chernivtsi National University, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Summer School is ready to welcome up to 30 students from both Norway and Ukraine and is expected to foster a platform for development of people-to-people relations between the two countries, as well as to contribute to raising awareness about Ukraine in Norway. Program curriculum includes Ukrainian and Norwegian language classes supplemented with a course of developmental studies read by the leading Ukrainian and Norwegian experts, social activists, human rights defenders, politicians and journalists. Program of the course will give students an introduction into Ukrainian culture, history and current political trends in Ukraine as well as its major internal and external challenges. In addition there will be number of excursions and guided tours.
