The “Ukrainian Film Days” festival was officially opened in Oslo.The festival is organized by the association “Ukrainske filmdager” in cooperation with the Cinematheque.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Norway Oleksiy Gavrysh delivered the opening speech. In his speech, he emphasized that Ukrainian children are forced to live, study, and grow up in the conditions of war. This reality is deeply and honestly portrayed in the festival’s opening film — the documentary “Timestamp”.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of international support for Ukrainian children through humanitarian, educational, and psychological initiatives. He also underscored the significant work of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska aimed at protecting childhood, supporting mental health, and ensuring Ukrainian children’s right to education even amid war.
Oleksiy Gavrysh expressed gratitude to Norway and the Norwegian people for their steady and consistent support of Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and shared values in the face of Russian aggression.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Oslo Anne Lindboe who reaffirmed her support for Ukrainian cultural initiatives and for Ukrainian-Norwegian cultural dialogue.
The “Ukrainian Film Days” festival will continue in Oslo, presenting documentary and feature films from different generations and introducing Norwegian audiences to the richness of Ukrainian cinema and contemporary Ukrainian experience.
