A Ukrainian bookshelf was officially opened in the Sunndal Library as part of the charity project «Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children».
Diplomat of the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway Nataliya Marikutsa expressed gratitude for the implementation of this project and emphasized the importance of the Ukrainian language and literature being fundamental to the national identity of the Ukrainian community abroad.
«This is not just a shelf with books - it is a symbol of support for Ukrainians who have been forced to leave their homeland due to Russian aggression», - she said.
The head of the library, Lina Engelsrud, and the project initiator, Olena Sira, delivered speeches and officially inaugurated the Ukrainian shelf by cutting a symbolic ribbon.
This project is part of the international charity project «Ukrainian Books for Ukrainian Children», which is supported by the Office of the President of Ukraine, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Embassy of Ukraine also donated Ukrainian educational literature to the Ukrainian schools «Kobzar» in Sunndalsøra and «Barvinok» in Trondheim.
