On September 26, the Third Humanitarian Senior Officials Meeting was held at Oslo City Hall, jointly organized by the Department for Multilateral Affairs of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations.
More than 80 delegations took part in the event, including representatives of the Ukrainian and Norwegian governments, as well as key EU partners and institutions providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Among them – the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Mayor of Oslo, the Norwegian Foreign Minister, officials from the USA, the United Kingdom, Germany and dozens of other states.
The participants noted the resilience of the Ukrainian state in the face of russia's full-scale invasion, condemned the Kremlin's tactics of purposefully destroying Ukraine's critical civilian infrastructure and discussed ways to improve the effectiveness of humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine.
The sessions focused on the preparations for the winter period while taking into account possible russian attacks on Ukraine's power system, sustaining humanitarian funding and the articulation between humanitarian aid and the economic recovery of Ukraine.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk emphasized the need for humanitarian aid to Ukraine, as millions of internally displaced persons and residents of the frontline areas are counting on it.
