Dear friends,

In 2019-2020, the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway implemented a project on creating "Ukrainian shelves" in Norwegian public libraries by presenting collections of books by Ukrainian classics and contemporary authors – Taras Shevchenko, Lesya Ukrainka, Yuriy Andrukhovych, Oksana Zabuzhko, Serhiy Zhadan, Lina Kostenko, Andriy Kurkov, Maria Matios, Vasyl Shklyar and others to the funds of the National Library of Norway and the Deichman Library. The "Ukrainian shelves" also include a number of English-language books by Ukrainian and foreign authors on the history and modern development of Ukraine, a selection of publications on contemporary Ukrainian culture, children's books, a number of photo albums, travel guides and other publications. The Norwegian libraries have already completed the inventory of the donated books, and now everyone interested in the culture, history and modern development of Ukraine has the opportunity to order any book from "Ukrainian shelves" at any public library in Norway.

To order books in Ukrainian or English-language publications on Ukraine in Norwegian public libraries you need:

1) to have a registered reader's card (lokalt eller nasjonalt lånerkort) in one of the Norwegian libraries. To obtain such a card, please contact the nearest library or fill out the appropriate registration form on the library's website - https://www.nb.no/bruk-av-biblioteket/lanekort-og-lan/. To receive reader's card at the Deichman Library, please register by following the link - https://deichman.no/registrer-deg;

2) to choose in one of the following lists – a list of books in Ukrainian or a list of English-language publications on Ukraine – books that you would like to order (in order to make the search for books on library websites easier, it is recommended to use the ISBN number of the book);

3.1) if you have chosen books in Ukrainian language, please order them at the website of the National Library of Norway in accordance with the following explanations – https://dfb.nb.no/sprak/ukrainsk;

3.2) if you have chosen English-language books on Ukraine, please order them at the website of the Deichmann Library or at your local library website in accordance with the following explanations – https://deichman.no/ofte-stilte-sp%C3%B8rsm%C3%A5l

You can also order (receive) chosen books in Ukrainian or English-language books on Ukraine during a personal visit to the nearest local library in Norway.
