Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Norway Oleksiy Gavrysh took part in the launch of Norad’s first comprehensive report on the results of Norwegian civilian assistance to Ukraine in 2022-2025. The report covers energy, humanitarian assistance and support for essential public services. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide, Norad’s leadership and representatives of humanitarian organisations also took part in the event.

In his closing remarks, the Ambassador thanked Norway for helping Ukraine get through three wartime winters. Thanks to the Nansen Programme, 1,5 million Ukrainian households received heat last winter, and hospitals and schools kept working despite Russian strikes on the energy system.

Oleksiy Gavrysh described the programme as a system that truly works. It is predictable, well-structured and directed where the need is greatest.

“Energy is not about kilometers of cable or megawatts. It is about whether the light is on in a child’s bedroom window,” the Ambassador noted.

He emphasized that restoring Ukraine’s energy system is an investment in European security and in long-term economic cooperation between the two countries. He concluded by thanking the people of Norway on behalf of the 1,5 million Ukrainian families who received warmth.
