February 14, Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Zagorodniuk held a meeting with Minister of Defense of the Kingdom of Norway Frank Bakke-Jensen.
During the meeting the parties discussed the current state of Ukrainian-Norwegian cooperation, in particular, the development of legislation in the field of national security and defense, the aspects of activities within the framework of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO), consultations on the political strategy on territorial integrity, independence and security. Minister Zagorodniuk informed his counterpart about current security situation in Ukraine, and in particular in the Black Sea region. During the meeting, Ministers also stressed the need for regular exchanges of views on current challenges and threats to the European security, which is an important part of cooperation.
The parties also discussed further cooperation of special operations forces, including the involvement of Norwegian instructors in training missions (operations) in Ukraine.
The study of the Norwegian experience of the creation of an effective operational (combat) management system, communication between intelligence and surveillance services; training of the representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in ordinary and special diving in the Kingdom of Norway were named among the promising areas of cooperation.
The parties agreed on the continuation of projects supported by the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Norway, including the professional retraining and social adaptation of Ukrainian servicemen and their families, the development of a distance learning system, the reduction of corruption in the personnel management system.
