The Ukrainian-Norwegian partnership is to be strengthened by a direct flight from Kyiv to Oslo

Direct air travel between Ukraine and Norway has been one of the priority goals on the agenda of the Ukrainian-Norwegian dialogue, and its important result is today’s announcement by a reputable multinational company Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to open a new direct route between Kyiv and Oslo in October 2019,” says the Ukrainian Ambassador to Norway, Mr Viacheslav Yatsiuk.

“This decision reflects a significant strengthening of the Ukrainian-Norwegian partnership over past few years, which has also led to a drastic increase in people-to-people contacts between Ukraine and Norway. At the same time, we expect that the future direct flight between Kyiv and Oslo will contribute to further enhancement of economic cooperation, as well as exchanges in other spheres between our two countries.”

“For thousands of Ukrainian and Norwegian entrepreneurs and investors, students and researchers, artists and sportspeople, civil activists and public servants, members of the Ukrainian community in Norway and their relatives in Ukraine the upcoming launch of the direct flight between Ukraine and Norway is a really great and long-awaited outcome. I am also convinced that there will be more Norwegian travellers exploring Ukraine as one of the most unique tourist destinations in Europe – a country which shares deep historical links with Norway dating back to the times of Kyiv Rus and the ancient Norwegian Kingdom. At the same time, more Ukrainian visitors will have the opportunity to discover the magical beauty of the land of Vikings and fjords. The existing visa-free regime between Ukraine and Norway will undoubtedly contribute to the success of the future direct flight Kyiv-Oslo,” notes Ambassador Yatsiuk.

The Ukrainian diplomat expressed special gratitude to the leadership of Avinor, operator of the civil airports in Norway and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) for their decision to use the official Ukrainian spelling of the capital of Ukraine – Kyiv – in the name of the new route.

The route between Kyiv and Oslo, which launches on 26 October 2019, will have three flights a week with departures on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
