Conference “Possibilities and Limitations for Norwegian Businesses under the EFTA-Ukraine Free Trade Agreement” with participation of over 100 guests was held on April 16, at Wikborg Rein office in Oslo. Special focus by the Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce was made on agriculture sector.
The Ukrainian party was represented by Dmytro Shulmeister, Director of Food Department, Ministry of Agrarian Policy; Denis Gutenko, Director of Foreign Economic Activity Department, Ministry of Economic Development; Lana Sinichkina, Partner of Arzinger Law Firm and George Logush, President of Kyiv School of Economics. 16 participants from both countries of “Young Entrepreneurs” NUCC program took part at the Conference as well.
The Norwegian side pointed out that the EFTA-Ukraine FTA is a good tool for increasing Ukrainian export to Norway including in agricultural area on the basis of Ukraine-Norway Agreement on Agriculture. It was stressed that Norway keeps supporting Ukraine both politically and economically and is expecting to see the results of reforms implemented in our country.
The Ukrainian party informed the guests about Sustainable Development Strategy “Ukraine 2020”, recent steps of the Government in implementation of reforms, simplification of doing business in Ukraine, combating corruption, perspectives of bilateral cooperation in agriculture and a number of practical issues such as legal bases for doing business in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the ATO area.
